Hi guys, today I’m going to look at the best ways to make money online. If you’ve every asked “How do you make money online?”, this is the guide for you.
With the rise of job uncertainty and the realization that there other means to get out of the rat race, many people are turning to the internet for a way to make money. And for good reason. Billions upon billions in money has been made on the internet, with many every day people taking a cut of these profits.
Want your slice of the cake? Well, it certainly is possible. I know, as I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to quit my job thanks to making money on the internet!
Now I’m not saying it was a quick or easy process, and I did make many mistakes along the way. But once I got going and saw what works for the average person, my online income rapidly grew and allowed me to replace my day job with something I actually enjoy doing.
It’s great being able to wake up and work on something you’re passionate about, and know that your income is only limited by the amount you’re willing to focus on your own online business. And if you leverage outsourcing once you’ve got things going, your online business will eventually run itself while you can go off and do whatever you want!
Today I’m going to look at the best ways to make money online for beginners. While there are probably hundreds of different ways, these are the ones that I’ve found to work best for me, and hopefully you too. So read on and give them a try.
The Best Way To Make Money Online
From what I’ve seen, the best way to make money online for beginners is via blogging. Blogging is when you set up a blog (A type of website which shows your latest posts at the top) on a particular subject you are knowledgeable about or have an interest in. This is very easy to do. You can see how to set up a money making blog here, or keep reading if you want some background knowledge before setting up your own site. You then either write posts or add videos on your site about this subject. Simples.
I advise you set up a blog based on something you are passionate about, and have a decent knowledge on. It doesn’t matter how weird the subject matter is, if you are passionate about it, you can be sure there are a lot of other people that are too!
There are a few reasons blogging could be your avenue to online riches:
- There Are Multiple Ways To Make Money From Blogging.
There are a number of ways to make money from home while blogging. I’ve found the best way is by creating my own ebook, membership site or information product (Very easy to do), although there are other options.
You could become an affiliate for big companies such as Amazon, Marks and Spencer, Toys ‘R Us, Clickbank etc, and promote their products in exchange for a commission if someone buys through your link.
You could put ‘pay per click’ adverts on your website, and get paid money whenever someone clicks on one of your adverts.
You could provide a service to your readers which you can charge for.
You could consult people on your chosen subject and charge by-the-hour rates.
This is just the tip of the iceberg, but also some of the best avenues you can go down.
- Blogging Can Largely Become A Passive Income Source.
While initially some work will have to be done to set up your blog content, once you reach a certain level, it’s possible to largely have your blog making money for you on auto pilot. If you add a lot of good quality content to your website, it’ll get to the stage where people are sharing your content a lot, and search engines will recommend your website for certain search terms. Combined this with promoting a product you make and getting people to create the content for your website, and you can have your website earning money even when you’re not personally working on it!
- Blogging Can Open Doors.
As well as becoming known online for your blogging, you can also get a lot of offline opportunities arising from your online dealings. Like I mentioned in the last point, you can offer consulting to your website visitors. While this can be online consulting, you can also take this offline and consult for clients either locally or internationally via Skype. People often look for advice online, and if they come across your website and see you can solve a problem they have, many will be interested in paying you for your services.
If you are looking for a dream job, your blog can also act as a great CV. People will be able to see you are taking your passion above and beyond what most people would, and this could go a long way in helping you land your dream job.
As a final example, blogging can help you be seen as an expert in your niche. This can not only lead to making some good money online, but it could also lead to talking at events (If you choose to go down that part), writing books, being interviewed on TV shows, and more.
There are a lot of doors blogging can open for you, so the benefits can be much more then just financial.
- Blogging Is Enjoyable.
I’m guessing part of the reason you’re looking for ways to make money online is because you want a more enjoyable method to making money. Blogging can be that answer. Because you’ll be talking about a subject you’re interested in, you’ll be a lot more motivated to get up and do what needs to be done. You can work at your own pace, although the more time you put in, the quicker you’ll start seeing results.
- It’s The Cheapest Business Opportunity You’re Going To Find.
The only cost necessary when setting up an online business is getting the domain name and web space. After that everything else is optional.
A .com domain name costs around $10 for a whole year, while you can get web space (The space needed to keep your website online) for a few dollars a month. Considering it’d take you grands to set up a offline business, paying around $50 a year (That’s just over $4 per month) is next to nothing compared to what you could earn.
How To Start Blogging And Making An Online Income
So, here’s how to set up a blog and start making money from it. This is quite an easy process, and you could have your website up and running within the next 20 minutes:
- Buy Your Website Name And Web Space.
Once you have decided on a name for your website, you will need to buy it (Also known as a domain name). Make sure it’s one that’s easy to remember, and gives a clue as to what your site is about within the title. You’ll also need web space, also know as web hosting.
You can buy both of these things easily and cheaply from JustHost (This is an affiliate link, I’ll earn commissions if you end up joining JustHost through this link). I use JustHost to host all of my websites and have been for a number of years. I’ve found them to be the cheapest most reliable web hosts around, so I suggest you go with them too.
Once you have signed up to JustHost, the next stage is to:
- Set Up WordPress.
Now that you’ve got your domain name form Justhost and have your web space, the next step is to install WordPress on your site. WordPress is a free blogging platform, and one you’ll be using to easily manager your blog. To do this, you simply go on the JustHost Dashboard, and click on the ‘WordPress’ button under the tab entitled ‘Popular Choices’. By following the instructions on the next few screens, you will set up WordPress and have your blog ready to use in under a minute. And that’s it, you can now login and start editing your site by adding wp-admin at the end of your site address. So let’s say your site is called www.MyNewBlog.com, you can access your site via www.MyNewBlog.com/wp-admin. Log in, and have a look around.
- Add Your Website Design.
The way your website looks is all important. If people come onto your site and it’s ugly, it’ll be an uphill struggle to keep them reading on. If you don’t have readers, it’ll be very hard for you to make money online.
You have two options here: You can search the WordPress theme market place for free themes to change the look of your blog (A theme is an ‘instant design’ for your site), or you can buy a premium theme which will make your website look a lot better then the free themes that are on the market. If you go for a premium theme, I suggest you choose one of the Genesis designs. This website uses a Genesis theme, and they provide are a lot of other looks and designs to choose from.
- Add Your Content.
Once your website is up and running, the next stage is to add your blog’s content. While bloggers traditionally add words to their blogs, you can also do video blogging if you require, or add podcasts and other types of audio.
Fill up your website with good quality useful content that your target reader would be interested in. Ensuring it’s good quality will mean that people talk about your website and share it with their friends and other people who are also into what you are blogging about. This is called free promotion, and will be one of your best friends as a blogger.
You may want to add links to your own product to sell on your website if you have one, or include a few affiliate links / pay per click adverts in some articles so you can make money from the people who are visiting your website. Don’t over do this though, as you still want your site to appear useful and not like it’s just out to make money. Build up a strong readership, and more people will trust what you have to say. Some of these people will go on to buy your product recommendations, and this is how you make money on the internet using blogs.
- Promote Your Blog.
This is one of the most important stages when making money online. You can have the world’s best website with a great product to sell on it, but if you don’t raise awareness of your website, who’s going to know it exists? And if they don’t know it exists, how are they going to go on it and buy your product or service? Simple answer: They won’t! So get promoting your site.
There are many ways to promote your website. You can use social media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Youtube etc), promote on related forums and websites (Don’t be spammy about this, add genuinely useful conversation and people’s interest will peak in you. Some will then go on to visit your website), use SEO techniques to gain search engine traffic, use paid advertising if you have the budget, and the like.
Like I said, blogging is probably the best way to make money online for the average person. It doesn’t require too much technical knowledge, and there’s a way for anyone who’s willing to write to make some money. As long as you provide a good quality blog with useful information and promote it effectively (And have your product ready to sell to interested parties), then you will make money blogging. So set up your website and give it a try.
More Real Ways To Make Money Online
Although blogging is probably the best way to start making money online, there are also a few other avenues you can pursue. Some of these include:
- Creating Kindle Books.
If you are keen on writing, then why not create your own Kindle ebooks? This is very easy to do, and easy to get sold in the Amazon Kindle marketplace.
You simply write your story or guide in a word document, get a book cover made, add it to Kindle, and promote your book. Rinse and repeat, as the more books you add the more money you can potentially make.
The good thing about Kindle books is that Amazon make it really easy to promote your title. Even if you’ve no prior audience, you can get in front of people and have them see and potentially buy your book (If they like the look of it of course).
- Doing Freelance Jobs.
There are websites such as ODesk that allow you to sell your services over the internet. Let’s say for example you’re good at designing or writing. You simply go on one of these websites, and create yourself a profile listing your skills and what kind of work you’d be wiling to do. Once your profile is set up, you can apply for jobs that people have already posted that match your skill set, and build up a set of customers that continue to use your service. Initially you’ll have to set a lower price for your work until you build up trust and a client base, but the more work you do to a good level and the more positive feedback you get, the higher you can start charging for your services.
- Selling Your Photographs.
If you have a good camera and want to make some extra money from your pictures, then why not sell them online? There are websites (Such as I Stock Photo) that allow you to upload your pictures and sell them to people looking for pictures for their websites and the like.
Have a look around I Stock and see what kind of pictures are selling well. Remember, you have to provide people with what they want, or no one will buy your pictures. This is a great money making method for those handy with a camera.
- Make Money From Youtube Videos.
Youtube now have their own advertising program. If you upload your videos to Youtube and they go down well, Youtube will allow you to sign up to their Youtube Partners program. This will allow you to display adverts on your videos, and every time someone clicks on it you’ll make money. This money can add up if you get a lot of video views, so it’s worth looking into if you like shooting videos and people take to them well.
I’d advise you give one of two of these methods a try instead of trying all of them. Pick two of the ones that look most interesting to you, and don’t try another one until you’re making money from at least one of the original two.
It’s too easy to stop working on one before you’ve put enough effort in, so keep at it until you’re making money from your chosen method.
There are a number of ways to make money online. Due to the amount of ways you can possibly make money via blogging (And the ease of starting a blog for the average person), this is the one I suggest you go for. So set up your blog, add affiliate links to useful products at points during your blog posts (Or link to your own product / add pay per click adverting), and promote your blog. This is one of the best ways to make money online. Good luck.
