Lesson continued from Lesson 1 Part 2: Diversifying Traffic Sources And Becoming The Authority.
Ok, so here’s a quick bonus lessons for you. While each of the things you’ll learn about in this course can work in their own rights (For example you can use just forums to gain you traffic, or just Kindle books for a different income source), things will really get moving if you use them in unity with each other. Not only will it help stabilize your traffic and income, but it will also increase both as people start to see you in more places. This can help strengthen your brand, and generally give others more places to find you.
So here’s an image detailing how the rest of modules in this course will fit into your overall plan. You’ll need to see the actual lessons to get the finer details on how to use each of these tools effectively, but here’s the basic structure (Click for larger image, opens in new window):
Remember, this strategy only works if you’ve got a website of real value, not just a website full of Amazon affiliate links. If you haven’t got a site like that yet, check out my guide on how to build a quality site, and get one up and running asap. Just be sure to make it the best site you can!
As you read the other lessons, you may want to refer back to the above layout image. It will remind you where everything fits in, and how each strategy we look at relates to the bigger picture.
Well that’s it for now, I’ll see you next lesson where we start getting out membership site set up. You will have a much better chance to increase and stabilize your income when you create your own product, so we might as well jump in with the daddy of all products right away! 😀
So there you have it, the basic set up information you will need before we move into the traffic generation and income stabilization strategies I have lined up for you. Producing quality content is very important when it comes to maximizing the results we will see from our efforts. While it’s possible to produce keyworded junk when relying on search engines (If you’re promoting affiliate products or PPC adverts and just want the click), the same won’t really be possible when you’re marketing yourself. Sure you can still drive traffic to junk pages, but you won’t convert with your product. You won’t get people on your list. You won’t get people sharing your website around.
These are all important things you need to think about. You want to put the user first, and focus on gaining real visitors rather then building links to make Google get your traffic for you. Because as they’ve shown many a time before, the traffic they send you doesn’t always last.
What To Do Now
Here is what you should do between now and next lesson:
- Get Ready To Market!
Forget link building and making money quickly, we are in it for the long term now!! Don’t worry about how Google is ranking you or whether or not your search engine traffic is fluctuating, accept that you can’t control that and move on. Over the next few lessons we will be looking at how to gain traffic on our own, and how to keep the traffic we get the best we can. So shift your mentality between now and then and we can move forward.
- Neaten Up Any Existing Sites.
If you are going to use these strategies on an existing site that isn’t yet top quality, you may want to improve on some of that content before you start using these methods. When you drive traffic to your sites, you want the pages your visitors land on to be of a high quality, so they carry on looking around and take the action you want. Send them to an uninteresting site that doesn’t give them what they want and your conversions won’t be anywhere near as good.
Alternatively, if you’re going to start up a new site from fresh:
- Choose Your Niche And Set Up Your Website.
If you haven’t already got a neat social site filled with good quality content that people are going to want to share, then it’s time you set one up. Of course, if you’re building a site from scratch it’s going to be impossible to turn it into a website full of quality articles overnight. Having said that, you can still put a site up and get your first few articles up and running. Even a site with a few articles can raise interest from people, so get it going now.
I recommend using JustHost* for buying hosting and your domain name (The hosting I use for most of my sites, very cheap but a good quality. *Affiliate link), and WordPress for setting up your website (Justhost allows a ‘Simple WordPress setup’ option in their control panel, so you don’t need to touch the code manually).
- Decide On Your Monetization Strategy.
It’s a good idea to at least get an idea of how you’re going to monetize your website at this stage. I would suggest you go with your own product for a few reasons. First of all, you get more money then over if you’re an affiliate for someone else. Second, you’ll have affiliates promoting you so your reach will increase. Third, if you put out a good quality product, it’ll be easier to be seen as an authority in your niche. I could go on, but I’m sure you get the point.
It can take a little while to get a product up and running, so look at what affiliate products you can have on your site in the mean time (If you want to go down that route). Next lesson we will look at how to set up your own product.
What’s Happening In The Next Lesson
Next lesson, we’re going to get into the thick of things!! I’m going to teach you how to create a membership site, one of the best methods of holding onto traffic and have them pay you a recurring payment every month! I will also be giving you some really cool tactics for getting your membership site up a lot quicker then you think (It’ll take say a fifth as long as it would to create an ebook, if not quicker) as well as plenty of other tips for creating a membership site that will take your niche by storm. I’ll see you next lesson. 🙂
